HI! I'm Alex Smith,I'm a 28 year old illustrator, and this is my sketch blog. I started Sketch Party 2000 in April of 2007 with no real goals in mind. Soon after, it evolved into a daily ritual. I posted a sketch, photo, film, or some other piece of my art every day for a year. Somewhere in the middle of that year I went back to school, and if you start at the beginning and move toward the current entries you should be able to see that I paid attention in class. I hope you enjoy seeing them as much as I enjoy posting them, don't let this be your last visit. Updated Monday, Wednesday and Friday (and any other time I feel like it).

Entry 04

I've always wanted to do a series of girl drawings like you'd see on the side of an old bomber plane or in a Petty calendar. I used photo reference for this piece and I could have taken some liberties with the placement of her hair and the strange angle of her left arm. the face ended up making her look a bit like the model Vida Guerra, but the photo I used was a different model all together. I think my biggest problem is that I want to see more personality in the face, especially in this kind of art. For tomorrow, I think I'll work on female faces and making them more characterized. Now quickly back to the Bat-drafting table...

*edit* came back and fixed this, she had two left feet, lol
